On October 14, 2025, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a significant directive requiring all oral rehydration salt (ORS) products that do not comply with the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended formulation to remove the "ORS" label. FSSAI noted that certain oral rehydration products with high sugar content and improper electrolyte balance may mislead consumers, particularly posing potential health risks to children. FSSAI emphasized that these products do not meet WHO-recommended formulations and could mislead consumers, especially children and other vulnerable groups. (Source: FSSAI Official Notification No. F.
