The National Health Commission (NHC) and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) have jointly issued Announcement No. 2 of 2025, introducing 50 new national food safety standards and 9 amendments. Among these are two food labeling standards: the "General Rules for Labeling of Prepackaged Foods" and the "General Rules for Nutrition Labeling of Prepackaged Foods." SAMR has also implemented the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Food Labeling," which will take effect alongside the revised "National Food Safety Standard for Labeling of Prepackaged Foods" (GB 7718-2025). These three new regulations will officially come into force on March 16, 2027.
