From July 13 to 16, 2025, IFT FIRST 2025 (Institute of Food Technologists Annual Event & Expo)—the premier global summit for food science and innovation—was held at McCormick Place in Chicago, attracting scientists, industry leaders, and policymakers from around the world.
Very few Chinese experts have historically been invited to deliver keynote presentations during the main sessions of IFT FIRST. This year, Ms. Ashley Liang Wang, Partner at BYSEE and a senior regulatory expert, was honored to be one of these rare invitees. She joined the distinguished panel on “How Do International Regulatory Frameworks Impact New Products?”, offering a unique Asia-Pacific (APAC) perspective on evolving regulatory landscapes and product innovation.
During the session, Ms. Wang engaged in deep dialogue with leading experts from the U.S. and Europe, analyzing the critical impact of divergent international regulations on food innovation and outlining strategic approaches for APAC enterprises to meet global compliance challenges. Her perspectives were met with strong recognition and positive feedback.
The panel was expertly moderated by Dr. Matthew Linman and organized with support from Steve Havlik. Distinguished contributors such as Dr. Vera Petrova Dickinson and Dr. David Tonucci also shared valuable insights, fostering robust discussion and cross-regional knowledge exchange.
Reflecting on her first-ever speaking engagement at IFT FIRST, Ms. Wang remarked: “This has been one of the important experiences in my 20+ year regulatory career. As global food regulations grow increasingly stringent and fragmented, companies must anticipate change and adapt proactively to stay competitive in product innovation and global markets.”
As a professional consulting firm dedicated to global food scientific and regulatory compliance, BYSEE will continue to closely monitor international regulatory trends, supporting business players identify risks and seize opportunities during this period of transition.
